A loving and devoted family man, a loyal and beloved friend, and an inspiration to all, David personified the spirit of “love one another” in everything that he did.  David loved the community of Oak Ridge and his family very much.  He also loved to golf and spent many days at the South Hills Golf Course as a teenager and then the Centennial and Oak Ridge Country Club courses as an adult.  David shared his love for golf with his children as well as children of the Oak Ridge community through coaching the Jefferson Middle School girls’ golf team.  His laughter and joy were contagious, and he spread happiness wherever he went.  David suffered a heart attack in August 2019 and his passing was felt by everyone in the community.     

Proceeds from this memorial tournament will benefit the Oak Ridge Firefighters Association’s Firefighter Relief Fund and Scott Stallings/Tennessee Golf Foundation “Kids Play Free” Initiative.  David had a deep respect for first responders and the Oak Ridge Firefighters were like family to him.  The Oak Ridge Firefighters Association Firefighter Relief Fund’s mission has been created to financially assist firefighters and their families who experience injury or loss of life while performing fire department duties. The Kids Play Free Initiative was also close to David’s heart because he shared their vision to “Promote growth in golf and its life principles by providing youth unlimited, free access to multiple golf facilities in Tennessee.”
